Snow days force us to slow down… (unless your school or work insists that you report on Zoom, sadly). You are at the mercy of nature, a thing none of us can control and there is something lovely and freeing about it.

So stop stressing about how productive you *should* be and simply enjoy the space to indulge in things that are not productive, but peaceful and enjoyable. It can be hard to know where to begin, but don’t worry too much about making the best used of your time. Instead, here are few ideas about how best to waste it.

Bake

No one needs to bake in our modern society, not strictly speaking. Our ancestors baked every day, for the most part, but we’re used to grabbing bread in a plastic sleeve or cookies in a cardboard box.

To bake is to reject modernity. It’s to recognize that modern and mass-produced does not equal better.

And besides, it's fun and you get something yummy at the end. It can be a little fiddly and time-consuming, but that makes it perfect for a day when you have a suddenly and unexpectedly clear schedule.
